چکیده

A recent development in the field of ontology matching is the alignment repair process, whereby mappings that lead to unsatisfiable classes are removed to ensure that the final alignment is coherent. This process was showcased in the Large Biomedical Ontologies track of OAEI 2012, where two repair systems (ALCOMO and LogMap) were used to create separate coherent reference alignments from the original alignment based on the UMLS metathesaurus. In 2013, the OAEI introduced new reference alignments for this track, created by using the two repair systems in conjunction and manual curation when necessary. In this paper, we present the results of a manual analysis of the OAEI 2013 Large Biomedical Ontologies reference alignments, focused on evaluating the equivalence mappings removed by the repair process as well as those that were replaced by subsumption mappings. We found that up to two-thirds of the removed mappings were correct and that over 90% of the analyzed subsumption mappings were incorrect, since in most cases the correct type of relation was the original equivalence. We discuss the impact that disregarding correctness to ensure coherence can have on practical ontology matching applications, as well as on the evaluation of ontology matching systems.

Ontology alignment repair through modularization and confidence-based heuristics

Ontology Matching aims at identifying a set of semantic correspondences, called an alignment, between related ontologies. In recent years, there has been a growing interest in efficient and effective matching methods for large ontologies. However, alignments produced for large ontologies are often logically incoherent. It was only recently that the use of repair techniques to improve the cohere...

Proceedings of the Third International Workshop on Debugging Ontologies and Ontology Mappings - WoDOOM 14

Alignments between ontologies may be established through agents holding such ontologies attempting at communicating and taking appropriate action when communication fails. This approach has the advantage of not assuming that everything should be set correctly before trying to communicate and of being able to overcome failures. We test here the adaptation of this approach to alignment repair, i....

Interaction-based ontology alignment repair with expansion and relaxation

Agents may use ontology alignments to communicate when they represent knowledge with different ontologies: alignments help reclassifying objects from one ontology to the other. These alignments may not be perfectly correct, yet agents have to proceed. They can take advantage of their experience in order to evolve alignments: upon communication failure, they will adapt the alignments to avoid re...

Introduction of a New Suture Method in Repair of Peripheral Nerves Injured with a Sharp Mechanism

Background: The standard method for repair of an injured peripheal nerve is epineural repair with separate sutures. Herein we describe a method in which the nerve is sutured with continous sutures. In fact this method has not been utilized for nerve repair previously and our purpose was to compare it to the standard method. If it proved to be successful it would replace the standard method in...
